NEW YORK (CBS4) ― Obama. Barack Obama.By Samantha Hayes in Washington
Obama. Barack Obama. He may be running for president, but the man who plays James Bond thinks he may also make a pretty good 007. Actor Daniel Craig said in a recent interview for Parade magazine that "Obama would be the better Bond because - if he's true to his word - he'd be willing to quite literally look the enemy in the eye and go toe-to-toe with them."
Craig didn't leave McCain out of the franchise though, suggesting the Republican nominee would make an excellent M (James Bond's boss) because of his "long service and experience." He also added there was a Judi Dench quality to John McCain. Hmm.
Obviously, the candidates' tax plans, health care proposals, and foreign policy preferences aren't really considerations for playing the role of the most famous spy. I don't know if Craig watched the presidential debates, but "Casino Royale" they were not. Both candidates did promise to "shake things up" if they become President. Neither offered to stir anything.
The next Bond flick is "Quantum of Solace." It hits theaters November 14th. That's ten days after the election, when another famous Bond one-liner might be appropriate: "Congratulations on your promotion, Goldfinger. Are you having dinner at the White House, too?"
